Bangalore, INDIA, February 11, 2010 – OnMobile Global Limited, India's largest and only listed player in the telecom value-added services (VAS) space, was today recognized as the Business Standard Star Company in the Small and Medium Enterprises sector by a distinguished six-member jury.

The jury, led by Godrej Group Chairman Adi Godrej, included TCS Vice-Chairman S Ramadorai, KKR India CEO and Country Head Sanjay Nayyar, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Chairman and Managing Director Arun Balakrishnan, Ernst & Young CEO and Country Managing Partner Rajiv Memani and Thermax Chairperson Meher Pudumjee. OnMobile was amongst a select group of awardees in other categories including Crompton Greaves, BHEL and Nestle India.

Arvind Rao, co-founder, CEO and Managing Director of OnMobile, said, “Our consistent drive towards excellence, strength in technology innovation and single minded focus on our customers’ success, have all contributed to the OnMobile success story. We are delighted that our performance has been recognized by this distinguished jury.”

The award is a recognition of OnMobile’s global leadership in the growing telecom value-added services space, led by the first-of-its-kind ‘music search’, through which users can download a song by simply saying the name. In 2009, a record 250 million songs were downloaded from OnMobile’s Ring Back Tones platform, which handles 24 million song requests every month.

The latest in the series of innovations from the OnMobile stable is Bachchan Bol, a dedicated celebrity portal that allows Indian movie star Amitabh Bachchan to directly interact with mobile and landline users in India. This voice blogging service offers celebrities the opportunity to directly share their daily thoughts and ideas with fans, and can be accessed on a single number across operators.

OnMobile’s success is a reflection of Indian consumers’ desire to get more out of their mobile phones – from utility services, m-commerce and social networking to entertainment. In fact, experts predict that the mobile value-added services market India will be USD1 billion industry by 2010. The exploding mobile market in India, which is adding over 12 million subscribers on average every month, is further enabling the value-added services revolution that OnMobile is spearheading.
