OnMobile Global announced the launch of comprehensive phone backup product with Bharti Airtel, Maxis and Indosat, which is claimed to be the ‘first-of-its-kind’.

The product allows subscribers to effortlessly take a back up of all types of personal information including files, messages, videos, photos, music, contacts, calendar, events and tasks stored on their mobile. All the data is backed up ‘over-the-air’ to the operator network. The company claims that the data stored is safe and secure.

The end user needs to download the user friendly handset client from either the service provider’s website or by an SMS request.

The service is easy to use with a intuitive User Interface (UI). An Airtel service user just needs to choose 'Airtel Backup' application from the menu, where he needs to choose 'Backup now' option which will lead him to an array of folders that need to be chosen and sent to be backed up on the air. This service is available on both GPRS and non-GPRS handsets on a monthly subscription basis.

All features for the service are accessible either from the phone application or self service web interface. Users can subscribe to the service by simply sending “BACKUP” a toll-free number. The subscriber’s primary concern regarding the safety and security of their personal information has been addressed by enabling secure transmission of consumer’s data over-the-air.
