Graduate/Post Graduate in Literature/Communications
Training in Technical Writing from a reputed institution
4-7 yrs total work experience
Prior Technical writing experience of at least 4-5 yrs
Experience in telecom and value added services will be a plus point
Job Description
Role
Designs, writes, creates, maintains and updates technical documentation including product guides, product specifications, system manuals, white papers, user guides, online help, API/SDK documentation and other documents. Documentation produced will be consumed by technical, business and consumer audiences.
Information Gathering
Talk and interview subject matter experts across teams to gather information and requirements
Apply the outcome from discussions to conduct research necessary to elaborate on the information gathered
Information Design and Architecture
Be responsible for using the right words, diagrams, and sequencing to structure messages so that they tell the story more effectively
Writing and editing to make the message more clear, unambiguous and understandable by the intended audience
Designing the appearance of the documents so that users can find what they need and understand it after they find it
Create graphic information that will turn data into lucid information
Ability to work well with a range of experts and yet act as 'professional amateur' in such teams, representing the audience
Documentation
Using tools to write and maintain documents
Come up with templates and formats for documents
Makes sure that all documents are reviewed by the relevant subject matter experts
Realistically assess timelines for completing documentation
Skills
Technical writing & documentation: ability to gather information, analyze subject & audience, and produce clear documentation
Information design & architecture: ability to artfully structure and express information with the necessary details to make it easy for consumption by the end user
Proficiency in Framemaker, Robohelp, MS-Office, Web Works, etc.
Work closely with engineering, product management/marketing and user experience groups
